This is what one pound of fat looks like. Not very pretty is it.
Look, it takes time to accumulate fat on the body. If you think that bag of chips the night before is what has added 5lbs to the scale and/or made your pants tighter this morning, you could not be more wrong.
Fat accumulates over time. If you've gained weight, it's certainly not because of your eating or exercise (or lack thereof) habits over the past few days. What has caused you to gain weight is what you have - or have not been doing over the past few months or years, as the case may be. You may be able to stay ahead of weight gain .. for a short while .. but sooner or later fat WILL catch-up to you. Guaranteed.
Did you know that a pound of fat is the equivalent of 3,500 Calories. So, what this means for Adriana's weight loss program is that she needs to be burning approximately 1,800 calories per day over a 5-day period. This does not have to be to the absolute last calorie - some zig-zagging of calorie burn is encouraged. But for the most part I want to see her burning 9,0000 calories each week. This is the equivalent of three pounds of fat burned and used for energy each and every week. She is also strongly encouraged to do 'fitness homework' on the weekends - with one FULL DAY OF REST. And that rest day is almost as important and the exercise itself, but more on that topic in a post to come.
This combined with smart eating i.e. eating for energy is what is going to help Adriana lose approximately 5lbs each week.
